Why hello there Kate. Well I too also write narcissistic entries, it’s still our personal blog at the end of the day. But well hmm, that’s a very good question… For me it’s just a matter of one side acknowledging its limitations as a medium and in turn accepting the capacity of the other to fill it, which, as we have seen, has not been that easy :)

Kate from Last.fm here.

I agree to your plea for the sound of reason. Admittedly, I'm not a mighty example of a blogger who exercises the rules of journalism in my usually narcissistic entries. I'm much too small time for that. I, however, believe that bloggers who widely publicize their personal spaces should make an effort to incorporate ethics into their work. Why can't blogging and journalism just get along?

You're right. Now if only they would be willing to lay down their pitchforks and plowshares and listen to the sound of reason then maybe we would all be happy :P

Every time nakakabasa ako about bloggers lambasting journalists and how the latter's gotten old and nearly obsolete and the former as the New Media that's going to conquer the world, I couldn't help but remember Nick Joaquin's Literature versus Journalism speech. I mean, if these two fields can work together (according to him), why not blogging and journalism as well?

Self-expression, facts, readership. They both have the same weapons. No need to shoot at each other, IMHO.
